Well, Maybe I Wasn't Really Finished...!

I woke up Thursday at 6am (having gone to bed at 2...), with a great idea to straighten out my diagonal lines. It worked, though took quite a bit of trial and error. Then a cat came along and wanted to be included... Anyway, this is the final version of my June page. It explains why I was having such a hard time starting July.

The straight lines - more of a personal thing I think but the cat was definitely an inspired move. It really does stop all the energy of the piece slipping away in that corner.

Well done Kitty for such perfect inspiration. Now will my kitty do the same thing for me, I hope so.

Oh he is awesome there. As if the piece was made just so he had a place to set and watch the world around him. How nice of him to come along just as you needed him. Cats seem to do that.

This is just the Cat's Meow, I tell you!!!! Are you going to tell us your magic trick for straightening the lines? It is definitely better this way and the cat is purrrrrrrfect!

The straight lines... I woke up with the idea of sewing a line of beads down with one thread, then running a 24ga wire through the cloth, beads, and back down through the cloth, and carefully tacking it down along the line every 4 - 6 beads or so. It took a lot of trial and error, but once I figured out that cutting the wire on an angle to give it a sharp point at either end, things got easier. I used a length of wire a little longer than twice as long as the line of beads I wanted to straighten out, so I could wrap the ends together on the back side. Then I just straightened the wire and beads before I tacked it gently down. As for the cat... I'm coming to the realization that I maybe can't do anything in my house without a cat! They find their way into everything.

I like the design addition. Think it is very nice with the lines added. I'm taking a design workshop next month so will learn some more, but the additions are really working, I think. Good work.

I think the cat completes the piece! The lines do look cleaner now. It was worth the effort you put into it. (Not a solution I would have come up with!) Beautiful work :- )

I wouldn't have thought straightening the lines would matter and they probably wouldn't have if we didn't see the "after". You're right. It looks better now but I had to scroll up and down a few times to see the difference. And the cat is a good final touch.

I thought I had posted a comment previously, but apparently it did not work. Your piece is stunning! I have admired it from the beginning and love your finishing touches.

I just love the cat :) He seems to be sitting there observing the wonderful world you created just for him....as all cats do. Great idea also on straightening the lines.

Wonderful piece, everything about is is fantastic -- and of course, the cat just sits there and takes all the credit for your work. I love your color choices and the placement of the different focal areas. In other words, I love it ;-)

Oh, I could live on this page...but I'm allergic to cats :) So, I guess I'll move on and let this furry guy/gal keep his new home. Beautiful page!
