Not July Yet...

I didn't want to stop beading. But I'm not ready to start July just yet, as there are so very many things to do first. So I put this together for a pin or pendant to wear to an event that I ended up not going to. My husband likes it this way, and I do too, though I also like it sideways, with the green beads on top. So I don't know exactly how it will end up. I'll finish up either late tonight or sometime tomorrow when it's too hot to do anything else. it looks kind of simple this close up, but it's designed to look better from a distance. Also... sequins do not scan well at all I found out.

I like this abstract design. I like that you mixed in sequins with the bead work, it makes middle seems to be floating. How did you do the long straight rows on either side of the middle? I take it that this was free hand embroidery. Did you string all the beads on the thread and then couch them or do it some other way?
Very Nice!

Oh I like this. I also like the sequins, something I have none of and now I remember running into Mary Tafoya at the Fiber Arts Festival and she was looking at sequins and I said. Oh I have no use for sequins. Oh I am shame faced now. Here I see a wonderful reason to have some on hand. Well guess I will have to go get some. Awesome another reason to buy beady type things.... Like I really need another reason.
Keep up your beautiful work and thank you so much for sharing it with us.

Thank you! I did the straight lines six beads at a time, couching back every two and then running the thread back through all six, then repeating till I got to the end of the row. Lucky for me it didn't come out too wavy! Sometimes beads have minds of their own. The sequins are vintage curved sequins I got at at Puget Sound Bead Festival a couple of years ago. My only regret about sequins is not getting more! They are really cheap and fill in spaces very well.

Oh me I would love to go to that festival. More than anything I just want to go see Washington, I have never been there. Perhaps I will have to try to talk my wonderful hubby into that. I am going to start looking around for sequins now you have gotten me started on something new. Thank you.
